"Raysut Cement Company was established on 15/03/1981 by virtue of the Ministerial Decree No. 7/81, and was registered as an Omani joint stock company in Salalah, Oman. The company started its commercial production on 01/07/1984, and the factory was officially inaugurated on 17/11/1985, on Oman’s 15th National Day. "
"Upon its establishment, the company’s capital amounted to OMR 6,000,000 six million rials, and then increased to OMR 8,000,000 eight million rials in 1983, and to OMR 10,000,000 ten million rials in 1994. In 2002, the capital was further increased to OMR 15,000,000 fifteen million rials by issuing free shares to the shareholders. Finally, in 2005, the capital was increased to OMR 20,000,000 twenty million rials by issuing preference shares to the shareholders. The main activity of the company is to produce and sell the Ordinary Portland Cement, Sulfate Resisting Cement, Oil-Well class G cement and Oil-Well Pozolana Cement (Pozmix). During the initial stage of operation, the production capacity reached (210,000) metric tons of clinker per year, equivalent to (250,000) metric tons of cement per year. In 1994, the Board of Directors decided to increase the production capacity by adding a second production line to reach a capacity of (750,000) metric tons of clinker per year, equivalent to (825,000) metric tons of cement per year. In 2003, the Board of Directors decided to further increase the production capacity by adding a third production line, thus reaching a capacity of (1,850,000) metric tons of clinker per year, equivalent to (2.25) million metric tons of cement per year. In 2005, the Board of Directors decided to further increase the production capacity by adding a fourth production line, thus reaching a capacity of (2.6) million metric tons of clinker per year, equivalent to (3) million metric tons of cement per year. The Company then entered a joint venture with its partners in Yemen to establish a cement terminal facility for cement packaging and distribution at the port of Mukalla; the facility began operation in August 1999. Following this, RCC established a second cement terminal facility for cement packaging and distribution at port Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat; the facility started operating in May 2000. In terms of its achievements, RCC received the Environment Award for being the best Omani manufacturer in 1986, 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1998; it was also awarded a certificate of recognition in the years 1996 and 1999 for complying with the environmental requirements. Additionally, RCC won the GCC award for the Best Environmental Business for the year in 1998. "
RCC remained the largest producer of cement in Oman and expanded its production bases to Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE through 100% acquisition of Pioneer Cement Industries LLC, an integrated cement and clinker grinding plant, in 2011. It has diversified to ready mix concrete and other cement products through its 50% ownership in Oman Portuguese Cement Products LLC in 2011. So the entire gamut of cement and cement products has come into its orbit to meet the needs of ultimate customer and that of the country.
